Welcome!

In light of the rumors flying around and the understandable curiosity about our purchase of the 100+ wooded acres along Mullikin Road, we thought it might help to explain to our neighbors who we are and how we got here.

Hi! We are Adam and Lisa Kotter, recently retired and transplanted from Atlanta.

Adam was a lifetime native of Gwinnett County, Georgia. Lisa, the daughter of an Air Force officer, grew up all over the U.S. until eventually settling in Georgia. Adam and Lisa met in high school, where Adam immediately fell for Lisa. At first, Lisa was not particularly impressed by Adam’s charm, but, in time, she realized that the good ol' boy had potential after all.

After high school, Adam spent two years as a missionary in the jungles of Guatemala, becoming fluent in Spanish and learning some Kekchi and finally English grammar.  Lisa, the valedictorian whiz kid (also fluent in Spanish), raced through her business degree and other studies at BYU and took five months off to run the Andean Children's Foundation in Bolivia. After graduation, we married and, over time, raised five wonderful children, several foster kids, and a few dogs.

Together, we founded, grew, and sold several successful businesses. These were mostly in the area of InsureTech but also included a couple of restaurants, a chain of insurance agencies, and a few smaller businesses.  In 2021, our InsureTech business was being used by about 15,000 independent insurance agents daily and was growing well. That got the attention of some larger companies, who made us an offer we couldn’t refuse, and we didn't, becoming gainfully unemployed in December of 2021.

All of a sudden, we found ourselves retired at the ripe old age of 47, with four of our five children moved on to college, and with a lot of time on our hands. Gwinnett County was becoming more Atlanta than we cared for, and some of Lisa's family invited us to get to know Evans, Georgia.

We loved Evans, and after some careful consideration and prayer, decided to move.  After purchasing a home in the back of River Island, we worked on figuring out what comes next.  Adam wanted to build a custom home on enough land to have privacy and plenty of space to play with grandchildren. (We have one grandchild so far and another on the way.) Adam found the land along Mullikin, and with some luck and careful negotiations, we were able to buy over 100 acres of beautiful forest.

So, what comes next?  Our plan is to develop half of our Mullikin land into a premier neighborhood and use those proceeds to cover the cost of our new home and acreage down on the river side of the property. We love nature and want to keep as much of the land in its natural state as possible so we can enjoy it with our children and grandchildren.
